Assistant Principal Summary of the main function/purpose of the position:
The teacher will provide an educational environment in which students will move forward toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual growth and maturation in accordance with the school's philosophy, goals and objectives.
Principal duties/
Responsibilities:
Teachers will:
Will faithfully serve Jesus Christ and live their lives in accordance with Christian principles.
Create long and short range plans based on the ACA curriculum guide and revise plans based on student needs.
Establish and maintain a positive, organized, engaging, and safe learning environment and enforce routines and procedures so that the instructional momentum will be maintained.
Develop routines and efficient techniques for minimizing time required for record keeping, administrative and organizational activities, and management of materials and equipment.
Assist in the enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
Develop and use instructional and assessment strategies, including self assessment by students, to plan for the continuous development of learners.
Interpret and use data to for diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation.
Communicate and collaborate effectively, knowledgably, and responsibly with student, parents and professional colleagues regarding individual student progress in order to meet the student's individual needs.
Collaborate with other staff members in curriculum development, special activities, and sharing ideas and resources.
Communicate high expectations for learning for all students at all levels of thinking skills.
Recognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention, referral, or reporting actions.
Engage in continuing improvement of knowledge and skills.
Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position and fulfill other assigned duties as needed.

Students:
Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or student program classification.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Teachers will supervise and direct all aides and volunteers within their classroom.

Bachelor's degree required (preferably in education).
Certified (or in the process of obtaining certification) by the State of Florida in the appropriate area preferred.
Specialized or technical educational requirements:
Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of children in the age group assigned.
Knowledge of current educational research.
Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum.
Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology.
Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.

Valid Florida Driver's License or dependable transportation when and where public transportation is not available.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, and is required to talk and hear.

The employee may occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms.
